York Water Rescue
A group of men and women...
The York Water Rescue Team is comprised of 11 men and women dedicated to helping others in need. Members are willing to put the needs of others ahead of their own in order to save lives at sea.
From early Spring until the late Fall, the team is available to respond 24/7, and in nearly any weather conditions. Extensive training ensures that the rescue boat is staffed for every call for help with crew members certified as Advanced Public Safety Rescue Swimmers, Fast Rescue Craft Operators, and Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition, some team members have also received training in Search and Recovery Diving and ice rescue techniques.
Search and Rescue is only part of the team's responsibilities. In order to remain in an operationally ready state, the team must maintain all of their gear, maintain the rescue boat, and continue to train throughout the season.
Just as important as Search and Rescue capabilities is public education and prevention of accidents in or around the water. The CCF will enable the team to provide better education to those within the community.
